Over the last year and a half, we’ve been building a steadily growing hospitality department here at Clemons. Two of our largest projects, Southmoreland on the Plaza and Oak Street Mansion, are premier inns located in the heart of Kansas City. Both feature a rich history but needed a refresh, so we set out to breathe some new life into these beloved properties using great care.
We have been hard at work this last year on a $500k+ renovation at Southmoreland, and we’re proud to present it to you now. We’ve updated every guestroom, all the common areas, and the exterior of the property with care, all the while maintaining Southmoreland’s historic charm.
In addition to these restorations, we’ve updated some of our operations at Southmoreland:
- Monday thru Friday we will now be offering a continental breakfast, with hot breakfast offerings on Saturday and Sunday
- We will also be offering a wine and beer happy hour every evening
- Additionally, while we will no longer have an innkeeper on-site 24/7, our amazing staff will remain at the Inn until 6:30 p.m. with a call-in line available if any issues arise thereafter
For Oak Street Mansion, we’ve transformed our online presence with a brand new website and logo. These fresh, modern elements not only make the Mansion stand out, but also create symmetry between the two sister properties.

The renovations at Southmoreland look amazing. Enjoyed staying there but it greatly needed a new look. Looking forward to staying there again.
