Elevate Salon Studios was started by Todd and Lisa Kobayashi in 2020 amidst the pandemic. Unsure of where the economy was going, they decided to start a business. Their hard work has paid off as all 23 suites are leased to independent businesses. They have attracted 26 of the most innovative and talented beauty professionals in Kansas City. Monica Enloe and Erin McGrane helped secure their lease at the perfect building, 3100 Gillham Plaza on Martini Corner in Union Hill.

We asked them a few questions looking back to the start of the business and what the future holds for Elevate Salon Studios.
How did you get started in the industry within Kansas City?
We came across the concept while working with a business broker looking at businesses to purchase. The more we researched the concept the more we liked it. It gave the opportunity we were looking for to work together, utilizing Todd’s strengths in commercial real estate, and my prior experience of marketing small business owners from a creative industry.
What made you choose your location?
We couldn’t have picked a better location. Martini Corner/Union Hill is a vibrant, eclectic and growing community. We have a collaborative relationship with both the Union Hill Neighborhood Association as well as Union Hill properties striving to bring in more clients to our business owners. Our location offers ample parking and tons of natural light, something not easily found in the city.
What’s the secret to your success?
We hold our tenants/business owners in the highest regards. Their client experience is our priority.
What sets you apart from other salons?
We are hands off and respect “their brand, their business”. We welcome all our businesses’ unique style and innovative services. In addition, they represent and bring in their own retail product. It’s a collaborative community of talent who are managing and growing their individual businesses.
What does the future hold for your brand?
We are currently looking for an opportunity to open a second location in another vibrant Kansas City location. The search is focused on offering Beauty professionals the same level of success they have found her at Martini Corner.
